Showmanship classes judge the person rather than the livestock. The exhibitor is scored on how the animal is presented and controlled, how well it has been groomed and trained to set up and stand, and on the handler's own turnout and ring awareness. It is the class in which a young exhibitor with an ordinary animal can still win outright, which is why it carries so much weight at youth and 4-H fairs.
Showmanship
A class that judges the exhibitor's handling, not the animal itself.
