New York Food Festivals 2026: Apples, Garlic, Grapes and Wings

July 29, 2026 · 5 min read

Seventeen of the 92 events in this directory carry a food festival tag, and they are not spread evenly across the year. Two open in spring, five across summer, and ten start between September 12 and October 17.

Seven of the seventeen are recorded as free at the gate. That combination, a harvest crush plus a free tier, is the practical shape of eating your way through New York in 2026.

Four Apple Festivals, Three Weekends

Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival opens the apple run, September 25 to 27 in Tompkins County, free to enter, with crafts, food, and live music on its record.

A week later two apple festivals share a weekend at opposite ends of the state. Hilton Apple Fest takes October 3 and 4 in Monroe County, and Warwick Valley Applefest is a single Sunday, October 4, in Orange County, established in 1989. LaFayette Apple Festival closes the set October 10 to 11 in Onondaga County.

All four carry craft tags alongside food, so expect vendor rows as part of the day rather than a food-only footprint.

Two Garlic Weekends, Two Weeks Apart

Long Island Garlic Festival is held in Riverhead, Suffolk County, on a mid September weekend that sources do not agree on, either September 12 to 13 or September 19, so confirm it with the farm directly before travelling. Crafts, food, and kids activities are recorded for it. Hudson Valley Garlic Festival follows exactly two weeks later in Saugerties, Ulster County, September 26 to 27, with crafts, food, and live music.

These are the only two dedicated garlic dates in the directory, and they do not overlap. If garlic is the reason for the trip, you can do both in one September.

Buffalo's Three Food Dates

Erie County carries the densest food festival calendar in the state. Taste of Buffalo comes first, July 11 to 12, established in 1984, tagged food festival, music, and family.

Galbani Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival follows July 24 to 26, free to enter, with food, live music, and competitions. National Buffalo Wing Festival closes the city's food season August 29 to 30, also with competitions on its record.

Three festivals inside seven weeks, all in one city, all with live music. Nothing else in the state clusters food that tightly.

Free at the Gate

Seven food festivals here list free admission. The longest by a wide margin is Queens Night Market, which opens April 18 and runs through October 31, the widest date range of any event in the directory.

Taste of Syracuse takes June 5 to 6. The Feast of San Gennaro runs eleven days in Manhattan, September 17 to 27, and Atlantic Antic fills a single Brooklyn day on September 27. Corning GlassFest, the Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival, and Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival complete the list.

Grapes, Oysters, and the State Fair

Naples Grape Festival shares the September 26 to 27 weekend with the Hudson Valley garlic festival, in Ontario County. The Oyster Festival is the last food festival of the year, October 17 to 18 in Oyster Bay, Nassau County.

The Great New York State Fair carries a food festival tag alongside its agricultural one, and the length justifies it. It runs thirteen days, August 26 to September 7, and food is one of five listed features next to animals, competitions, live music, and rides.

Planning Around the Harvest Crush

Ten of the seventeen start between September 12 and October 17, and several share weekends outright. September 26 to 27 carries both the Hudson Valley garlic festival and the Naples grape festival, roughly the width of the state apart. October 3 to 4 carries Hilton and Warwick, also far apart. Pick a corner of the state and stay in it.

One note on what this page does not contain. The directory holds names, towns, counties, dates, categories, and features. It does not hold menus, ticket prices, vendor lists, or music lineups, so none of that appears here.

The one weekend that forces a choice

Ten of the seventeen festivals on this page start between September 12 and October 17, but the pressure point is the last weekend of September. Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties and Naples Grape Festival both run September 26 to 27, Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival runs September 25 to 27, and Atlantic Antic takes over a mile of Brooklyn on September 27.

Those four sit in four different corners of the state, so this is the one weekend of the New York food calendar where you are picking a region rather than a schedule. Saugerties to Naples alone is roughly five hours of driving.

Four apple festivals inside three weeks

Apple season compresses hard. Ithaca opens it September 25, Hilton Apple Fest follows October 3 to 4, Warwick Valley Applefest lands October 4, and LaFayette Apple Festival closes it October 10 to 11.

Hilton and Warwick share October 4, which looks like a doubleheader until you check the map: Hilton is outside Rochester and Warwick is in Orange County, about five and a half hours apart. Ithaca and LaFayette are the pairing that actually works, roughly an hour apart on either end of the three-week window.

Seven cost nothing to walk into

Free entry on this list means Queens Night Market, Corning GlassFest, Taste of Syracuse, Galbani Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival, The Feast of San Gennaro, Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival and Atlantic Antic. Free entry is not a free day out at any of them, since the food is the point and the food is priced per vendor.

Queens Night Market is the outlier on duration: it runs from April into late October rather than over a single weekend, which makes it the one entry here you can treat as a fallback rather than a fixed date.

Buffalo is the only city with three separate food festivals on this page, Taste of Buffalo in July, Italian Heritage later that month, and National Buffalo Wing Festival over Labor Day weekend.
